In celebration of Chinese New Year it’s about time I shared some of my images from when I went travelling in China – Happy Year of the Monkey!
These are only a small section of my photographs (I have a problem with taking and shooting too much film when I travel!) – I hope you like them.
I will start by being totally honest with you – China had never been up there with places I wanted to really explore, but I wasn’t going to turn down a trip! Even though it wasn’t on my ‘to do’ travel list, I am so SO happy I went. Because China is pretty incredible and if you get a chance to go, you absolutely should!
This single visit has opened my eyes to what a diverse and beautiful country China is. It has everything! As a photographer I was in love. Everywhere I went I wanted to photograph things (which ain’t easy on the wallet when I shoot solely on film!)
China has busy, fast and hectic cities. Beautiful, sprawling tea plantations. Traditional gardens. Old, ancient towns with winding canals, tempting street food and intriguing games of mahjong on every corner! And China is HUGE! I spent 3 weeks and rushed around the country – Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Shangi-La, Lijiang, Guilin, Yangshuo, Longji, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai! Wow. Loads! My absolute favourite places being Xi’an, Yangshuo, Longji and Shanghai.
I love cities and Shanghai is such a cool city. I only had three days there – I’d love to return.
Take a mo, enjoy the pictures, any questions about travel in China just ask me! I love to help where I can!
